Description

Trek of Legends is a turn-based survival strategy game for the PC, where you control a tribe that has been uprooted from their homeland by hostile forces. In order to escape death they must make a perilous journey across vast distances so they may reach a safe haven: their promised land. 

Your tribe must traverse dangerous and unpredictable terrain, facing obstacles such as harsh weather, limited resources, and hostile forces who are hot on their trail.

If you enjoy 4X strategy games but do not have the time to invest in typical long form gameplay modes, this game is meant for you. The core design goal is to condense the most enjoyable elements of the genre while discarding the stagnant rest, in favor of a shorter form gaming experience that stays fresh with great replayability.

Gameplay

Trek of Legends is about a journey. You will explore a vast world, trying to find your way to the promised land. Your scouts will explore ahead and reveal safe paths or mysterious sites that may hold powerful boons... or curses. Your warrior heroes will keep your people safe by neutralizing threats, or leading hunts that will keep the tribe fed.

Along the way your people will build temporary settlements, to better exploit precious resources, or simply to have a chance to rest. 

The Tribe's Dilemma

The more the they stay settled, the more resources and perks they collect.

The more they stay settled, the more hostiles they will have to thwart, each wave deadlier than the one before.

Core Design Pillars

The world never gets old: In ToL, exploration is constant. There are no national borders, no enemy territories to box the player in. The player can never reveal the entire game world, but only a slice of it that lies on their path.

The thrill of discovery never fades.

The march must go on: The player has to keep moving and adapt to new situations. Any rest or respite is brief. Stagnation is literal death. The decision of where to go next never goes away.

The focus is outward and forward.

There is always a decision to be made : At every turn there awaits a decision: what route should I take? What sites should I explore? What resources should I collect? What upgrade should I have? Should I fight the enemy or run? Should I set up camp or press on?

Pay-off is always around the corner: Whether it’s a cache of loot waiting to be collected next turn, or an amazing campsite discovered by your scouts waiting to be settled, or a hero on the verge of an upgrade, or a mystery site that can yield long forgotten artefacts when explored, the player always has something to look forward to.

And when the reward comes to a tribe desperately trying to survive, it always makes a difference.

Trek of Legends is currently in very early development with a solo developer working on it on nights and weekends.
