Lots of charm and character! More games should let you say "beat it kid!". :)

The Left Hand of Darkness Gives The Finger? :)

Hi Zombiegameryt,

There are no viruses in the files. Windows may present a warning due to me being an unknown publisher, which I warn people about in the download page. If you are having technical problems due to the game itself, I am happy to help. I have reported these comments to the moderators of itch.io and have invited them to investigate. I would kindly ask you to refrain from making accusations like this without proof.

If anyone is concerned about the game in question they can contact me at info@innerversegames.com.

Thank you.

Just wanted to add quickly that Pirates of Gravitae now has a FREE DEMO version available for download. I figured a try before you buy approach can be a good ice breaker in case people have doubts about whether its worth their money and time. So there, now you have no excuse to not give it a try. :)

(1 edit)

Pirates of Gravitae is an action rogue-lite set in a fictional version of the golden age of piracy. I am developing it mostly as a solo dev (with help in art and audio). I started this project after the previous one I worked on got cancelled after four years of work. This, in a way, is my attempt to make up for that lost time, by creating and releasing something worthwhile.

More information about the game can be found at https://innerverse-games.itch.io/pirates-of-gravitae

At the moment it's a pretty well polished alpha stage, if I may say so myself. The ultimate medium term goal right now is to release the game on Steam Early Access sometime in the Spring, which I consider to be the Beta Release. Until then I am predicting steady rate of updates that expand on a few areas of the game before it is introduced to a wider audience.

What I have playable right now is the first chapter of the campaign, which should be a smooth and stable experience. There are 13 different abilities in the game including the upgrades, 8 crew members representing different stats that you can train, and over 60 different equipment options to choose from at the end of every combat mission. By the time the game is released on Steam, I am hoping to have:

  • More mission variety: Two more mission types have been implemented but they were not polished well enough to be included in this first release. There are plans for even more after the beta release.
  • Increased campaign length: Currently there are about 20 levels in the game. I want to have two chapters each with 15-20 levels in the Beta. This will allow for a smoother difficulty curve as well, letting players get accustomed to specific enemy types before they encounter new ones. I may be able to squeeze in a couple new enemy designs too.
  • Quality of Life and Polish: I tried to make this experience as smooth as I could, but of course player feedback will have to be factored in. I will be working on better presentation of information in and out of combat.
  • Storytelling: The game does have a back story but aside from character portraits, very little of it is seen in-game. The long term goal is to have a proper narrative where these characters can shine and new ones can be introduced, but in the meantime I could do a better job of world building through environment/level design.

Running in parallel to all this, I will be ramping up the marketing efforts, producing and posting screenshots, videos and devlog entries like this one, to keep everyone in the loop about what's happening with the development. If you are someone who can and would like to help with getting the word out about this game, please feel free to contact me.

There is even more to add to the game after the Beta Release, but I will get to it after that particular bridge has been crossed.

The coming months will be a very busy time, and it will be challenging to juggle all this. But I think it will be worth it. I am approaching every decision about the game with the intention of making it fun and thrilling to play every time you pick it up. I want it to be the kind of game that I would love to play myself. I hope I can make it a game that you love as well. :)

Cheers and talk to you soon,

Taylan

Hello folks. I just release the alpha access of my new game Pirates of Gravitae.

Pirates of Gravitae is an action rogue-lite game with fast-paced aerial dogfights, set in a fictional version of the Golden Age of Piracy. It is in active development with a playable early access version available.

Pilot a gravity defying pirate ship and command her eclectic crew, in a bid to bring down an evil, tyrannical organization that is tearing the earth itself apart.

Dogfight your way through the Neo Caribbeans. Defeat challenging foes. Gain amazing new abilities. Train your crew. Collect powerful loot and untold treasures.

Raid treasure laden galleons and escape before their escorts catch up. (in development - coming soon)

Destroy forts with aerial bombardment, to open up sea routes that lead to your ultimate victory. (in development - coming soon)

Plot your course to take full advantage of your equipment and the skills of your crew. Negotiate high and low winds, and full blown storms. Take cover in floating debris fields. Equip your crew for night or day, high or low altitude. Visit the "merchant" Shiver Me Own Timbers Pirate Outfitters to spend your hard looted gold.

It's been inspired by games like Luftrausers, Hades, and FTL. I'm the solo developer behind the project and am happy to answer any questions or comments you may have about the game.

Thank you for checking it out!
