Ahoy Mateys!

Hello everyone and thank you all who have bought and/or downloaded the first release of my game! I wanted to personally welcome you on board. This is a very exciting journey for me, publishing my own game, and I'm glad you are with me on it.

If you are reading this, chances are you have already read the project description and the Early Access information. I wanted to expand a little bit on those points and also talk a little bit about the future here, about what the game is intended to become over the coming months.

The ultimate medium term goal right now is to release the game on Steam Early Access sometime in the Spring, which I consider to be the Beta Release. Until then I am predicting steady rate of updates that expand on a few areas of the game before it is introduced to a wider audience.

At the moment what you have is the first chapter of the campaign, which should be a smooth and stable experience for most of you, but do let me know if you encounter technical problems. There are 13 different abilities in the game including the upgrades, 8 crew members representing different stats that you can train, and over 60 different equipment options to choose from at the end of every combat mission. By the time the game is released on Steam, I am hoping to have:

  • More mission variety: Two more mission types have been implemented but they were not polished well enough to be included in this first release. There are plans for even more after the beta release.
  • Increased campaign length: Currently there are about 20 levels in the game. I want to have two chapters each with 15-20 levels in the Beta. This will allow for a smoother difficulty curve as well, letting players get accustomed to specific enemy types before they encounter new ones. I may be able to squeeze in a couple new enemy designs too.
  • Quality of Life and Polish: I tried to make this experience as smooth as I could, but of course player feedback will have to be factored in. I will be working on better presentation of information in and out of combat.
  • Storytelling: The game does have a back story but aside from character portraits, very little of it is seen in-game. The long term goal is to have a proper narrative where these characters can shine and new ones can be introduced, but in the meantime I could do a better job of world building through environment/level design.

Running in parallel to all this, I will be ramping up the marketing efforts, producing and posting screenshots, videos and devlog entries like this one, to keep everyone in the loop about what's happening with the development. If you are someone who can and would like to help with getting the word out about this game, please feel free to contact me.

There is even more to add to the game after the Beta Release, but I will get to it after that particular bridge has been crossed.

The coming months will be a very busy time, and it will be challenging to juggle all this. But I think it will be worth it. I am approaching every decision about the game with the intention of making it fun and thrilling to play every time you pick it up. I want it to be the kind of game that I would love to play myself. I hope I can make it a game that you love as well. :)

Cheers and talk to you soon,

Taylan
